Children’s Centres

North Somerset Children’s Centres offer support, information and services to families with children and young people aged 0-19 years, extended to 25 years for families of children and young people with additional needs.  Families are supported, and children and young people are encouraged to reach their full potential.

Volunteers are welcomed in Children’s Centres and the three local authority nurseries and are recognised for the added value they bring to the services provided.

As part of the service level agreement with North Somerset Council, VANS provides a part-time Volunteer Manager who has responsibility for recruiting new volunteers and supporting them into their roles. Working with senior members of staff in Children’s Centres, Family Hubs and Local Authority  Nurseries,  the Volunteer Manager is able to support the Early Years team to develop volunteering in their settings.

The Volunteer Manager provides wrap-around support to volunteers where additional needs are identified, putting safeguards in place and helps Children’s Centre Staff, volunteers and families attending to manage expectations of volunteering.
